Duty station: Based in Manthali Municipality, Ramechhap district, Bagmati Province (Field visits required)

Objective

To Mobilize and empower communities and vulnerable families to prevent child-family separation and promote safe, family- and community-based care, while strengthening local child protection mechanisms, referral systems, and community engagement for the protection and well-being of children.

Key Responsibilities

(R1) Community Mobilization, Awareness and Child Protection Promotion

(R2) Family Strengthening, Livelihood and Empowerment

(R1) Community Mobilization, Awareness and Child Protection Promotion

Mobilize children, families, schools, CSOs, Female Community Health Volunteers (FCHVs), and community groups to raise awareness on child rights, child protection, child abuse prevention, and family-based alternative care.

Develop and disseminate IEC materials and conduct community and school-based awareness campaigns.

Engage and strengthen child clubs, schools, mother/women's groups and community champions.

Identify community champions and establish and strengthen them as community support groups.

(R2) Family Strengthening, Livelihood and Empowerment

Identify vulnerable families and facilitate access to appropriate family strengthening and livelihood support.

Identify vulnerable children and refer them to the appropriate support systems.

Support Income Generating Activities (IGA), agricultural support, skill-based microenterprises,womens cooperatives and home-based businesses.

Facilitate linkages with vocational training and employment opportunities for youth.

Strengthen Family and Community Support Groups to promote family preservation and prevent unnecessary separation of children from their families.

(R3) Child Protection System Strengthening, Advocacy and Coordination

Support advocacy for functional child protection systems and mechanisms at municipality and ward levels.

Coordinate and collaborate with Local Child Rights Committees, Child Welfare Officers, ward- level child rights committees, police, schools, child clubs (community-based, school-based and specialized), NGOs and other stakeholders.

Facilitate coordination meetings and link community-based mechanisms with formal child protection services.

Support identification, referral and follow-up of child protection concerns in accordance with established procedures.

Provide necessary support to the Reintegration Facilitator in case management and follow-up activities as required.

Facilitate linkages between reintegrated children, families, and relevant community-based support systems for effective post-placement support.

(R4) Documentation, Learning and Reporting

Document community activities, achievements, challenges, lessons learned and good practices.

Develop case studies and success stories demonstrating project learning and impact.

Maintain required records and provide regular activity updates and reports to the Project Coordinator.

Support monitoring of project activities and achievement of relevant indicators.

Working Days and Hours

The post holder is required to work for 8 hours per day (including lunchtime) from 9 am to 5 pm on office days, apart from field visits. There are times when SYS works beyond the hours of a normal workday and may require working overtime if necessary. Extended working hours may occasionally be necessary to complete comprehensive reporting requirements or manage urgent field-level operational emergencies.

Required Qualifications

Minimum Intermediate level (Grade 12) passed in a relevant field such as Humanities, Management, Education, or a related discipline.

At least 2 years of relevant work experience in the development sector, preferably in community mobilization and child protection.

For Female candidates, candidates with an SEE qualification and at least 5 years of relevant prior experience will also be considered.

Preference will be given to candidates with experience in child rights, child protection, community mobilization, and family strengthening.

Shrijansil Yuwa Samaj (SYS), Ramechhap/Nepal is one of the leading NGOs based in the Ramechhap District. It is an autonomous, non-profit making, non-racial and non-political, non-government organization established with the prime aim to create such a society in which all the deprived section of the population would realize their full potential in society with sustainable development, which is economically viable, environment friendly and inclusion of marginalized sections of the community. It is devoted towards holistic development of deprived groups of people (women, children, Dalits, janajati, people with disability, ethnic and indigenous) who are facing the problem of social exclusion in the normal service delivery mechanisms on grounds such as inaccessibility, flaws in the intervention processes and approaches, gender, caste and ethnicity. It was set/ founded to foster sustainable community development through People and organizations and leadership development and it tends to bring together the services of highly qualified and experienced professionals, competent, and dedicated to implement community development initiatives especially for the poor, women and marginalized people.
